Bad Bridget: Ulster Women Behaving Badly in the United States

Event type: Talk

Two women stand side-by-side holding up the book they have written, 'Bad Bridget'. One woman wears glasses and has short curly hair, the other woman has long red hair.

Join us at PRONI to hear Leanne McCormick and Elaine Farrell explore stories of the women from Ulster who emigrated to America.

From serial killers to shoplifters, this talk explores the experiences of some of the Ulster women who got into trouble with the law in the United States in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Drawing on research from the Bad Bridget project, this talk examines the complex lives and experiences of those for whom the American dream was anything but.
