Stalag Luft III: Ulstermen and The Wooden Horse Escape

This talk follows on from the talk about Flight Lieutenant Robert Henry Stark and his RAF career in the Second World War.

The Stalag Luft III Prisoner of War Camp in western Poland was the scene for two POW escape films - the Great Escape and the lesser know Wooden Horse. When the Wooden Horse was released in Northern Ireland in late 1959, Ulstermen involved in the escape met up in Belfast and, from newspaper images, the names of nine local men were identified by Nigel Henderson.

This talk will present biographies on Ulstermen who were incarcerated at Stalag Luft III and played a role in the Wooden Horse escape.
