On Tuesday 17th November 2026, at 7pm, we welcome Dr Arnold Horner (UCD School of Geography, Dublin) distinguished geographer and historian of cartography, to the annual online David Chart Map Seminar.
Dr Horner will speak about the little-known subject of military mapping in Ireland and Northern Ireland, by Britain, the Irish Free State and Germany, in the later 1930s and during the Second World War.
The talk promises to change perspectives on the period. It is entitled, ‘Several million map sheets - British, German and Irish maps of Ireland from World War 2 (1939-45)’
