Copy order requests

Requests for copy orders should be submitted as soon as possible to ensure that off-site  requests for copying can be completed before PRONI closes to the public and documents become unavailable due to the move.
  • Remote requests for large copy orders (over 25 pages) should be placed by 31 August 2010.
  • PRONI will continue to carry out regular copy orders (25 pages and under) placed on and off-site until 3 September 2010.

PRONI Search Service

From 6 September 2010, PRONI will be operating a restricted search service.  The full range of searches will end at 5 pm on Friday 3 September and enquiries received after that point  will be handled within the boundaries of the limited service available during the closure.
We will continue to carry out search requests for:
  • Information in microfilms previously available in the PRONI self-service microfilm room, (with the exception of the 1901 census which is now available on-line).
  • Valuation revision books (PRONI reference VAL/12/B, VAL 3B, VAL 7B)
  • Records of the Chief Electoral Office (1972 to 2001)
  • Wills (1960 to 2003)
For general enquiries, answers to many questions can found on the PRONI website, at the following headings:
If your enquiry falls outside of the service we are providing, you will receive a response to advise you of this.  Please note that your enquiry will not be held until the full service resumes and you will need to re-submit your request when PRONI re-opens to the public in April  2011.

PRONI will continue to respond to Freedom of Information requests relating to information designated as closed.  However, from the 6 September 2010 it is likely that requests for corporate information may take longer than the 20 day statutory limit. Similarly, it may take longer than the 30 day statutory time limit to complete historical FOI requests.  We will keep you informed about any delays and the likely timescales and will advise you of the arrangements for dealing with FOI requests during the closure period.

Access to closed records

From the 6 September 2010, access requests that fall outside of FOI will be acknowledged but PRONI will be unable to provide a comprehensive reply.  Please note that your enquiry will not be held until the full service resumes and you will need to re-submit your request when PRONI re-opens to the public in April 2011.
