Scope of the Index
This index contains information on almost 5000 people of special historical interest who are represented in PRONI's collections.
Derived
from PRONI's earlier Personal Names card index, this index is selective and, in all cases, provides
only an approximate guide to PRONI documents or collections of possible interest. No doubt many names
and relevant documents have been missed in compiling the original index as a result of the vastness
of the task. It should be used only as a starting point to researching PRONI records relating to prominent
persons. The reader should consult the catalogues held in PRONI for more detailed descriptions of collections.
