Introduction
This volume of Derry Corporation minutes covers the period from 10th October 1754 to 12th September 1765.
The script in this volume can be difficult to read and as it appears to be a draft it does not include any margin notes to direct users to particular events, as many of the other volumes do.

Highlights from Volume 7
In 1756 details of salaries are given which include the Mayor’s wage of £160 and £20 to the Sword Bearer.
In 1759 an order is made concerning checks on the fire engines to ensure they are available if required (see page 64).
In August 1763 it is ordered that an advertisement is to be published in ‘Faulkners Journall’ inviting all ‘good tradesmen’ to ‘come and settle in this City’.
Throughout the volume leases, commencement dates and rents are discussed, often involving disputes with the Irish Society and tenants when extensions are required or reduction in rents. Resolutions are often followed by names added to the list of Freemen, on payment of ‘customery fees’.
