Prior to Freedom of Information (FOI) legislation coming into affect in January, 2005, annual releases were available from the start of the year (i.e. the beginning of January on the year of release).  They are now published and available from the end of each year instead (i.e. the end of December on the year of release).  Please note that due to this change, there were two 2005 annual releases.
A selection of digital versions of documents released under the annual release scheme are available at the University of Ulster’s CAIN (Conflict Archive on the INternet) website Opens a new browser window..
The records selected by CAIN are ones which relate to the politics and conflict in the region. The records mainly cover the period 1968 to 1980. There are over 600 PRONI public records on the CAIN site comprising approximately 2500 pages.
