In August and September of 2013 Dr. Timothy Bowman delivered a series of lectures examining the various volunteer organisations which emerged in Ireland during the years before the First World War. In these videos, Dr. Bowman examines volunteering in the Unionist tradition, as well as addressing the role of women.
Dr Bowman is Senior Lecturer in History at the University of Kent and has published works on the Ulster Volunteer Force and the British Army between 1902 and 1914.
