Belfast/Port Fairy

Originally known as Port Fairy, the name was changed to Belfast on the 27th May 1887.   An important and central seaport township at the mouth of the river Moyne, it was formed of basaltic rock, when the extinct Volcano now known as Tower Hill, erupted.
