New South Wales, Feb 16th 1840
My loving wife and children,
I take the opportunity of riting to you hoping to find you and all inquiring friends in health as this leaves me at present thanks to god.  I have to inform you that I made application for getting you and me children to this country and I sent the order for you in November 1838 and I expected that you would be in this country before now but as you are not arrived I am riting this moment to the secetary's office to know what is the cause of the delay and as soon as I get an answer if the order is not gone home I will send on the order immediately. me Loving Wife do not think that I neglected anything on my part as nothing in this world would give me more Pleasure than to see you and me Children once more Which I hope with the blessing of God we shall see I have further to state to you if the order is not at home when you recieve this letter to make application to the Imegration office in London or in Ireland and to come out an Imegrant as soon as possible you can as you can come imediately that way, and tell Cormack McCaffery that this is a fine country and that I would recomend to him to come to this country as he would do well in it.
My loving Wife I have further to state that I got me liberty and hold a tickett of leave these fourteen months and that I am doing well thank god.  I see patrick McCaffery dan Murphy and James Keenan every Sunday and they are all well also Catherine McManus let her friends know that she is well to.  Let Patrick Montgomerys people know that he got his Liberty.   Labourers wages here is 32 or 34 pound a year wih rations.  Write to me as soon as possible and direct you letter for me to Nortland [?], New South Wales.
