  • Environmentally controlled secure storage for archives
  • Air-conditioned reading room (where documents are consulted) and search room (where  the finding aids are kept) for your comfort
  • A self-service microfilm room where you can get quick access to the most popular records on microfilm.  This includes church records, the 1901 census for Northern Ireland and the index to civil birth registers from 1864-1922.
  • A lecture room for group visits and for educational use
  • An in-house conservation laboratory for the repair of deposited archives
  • Public speakers for local and family history societies and other groups
  • Loan of documents (depending on security and environmental controls) for exhibitions
  • An education service - school visits and assistance for teachers
  • Help desk staff, fully trained in customer care, to assist you with enquiries.  Staff can offer advice and information about conducting your research and the use and availability of the archives, free of charge.
  • A records management advisory service to the public sector
  • A fee-paying copying service - photocopying, microfilm and digital (but not self-service for copyright and preservation reasons)
  • A canteen providing a range of snacks, drinks and meals
  • Free access to a number of websites of archival interest, including the PRONI website and the Centre for Migration Studies Emigration Database website
  • Free access to the Northern Ireland Digital Film Archive
  • An enquiry service for written and email enquiries
