Environmental Information Regulations (EIR)

The Environmental Information Regulations 2004 Opens a new browser window. give rights of access to environmental information under terms similar to Freedom of Information. EIR requests can be made in writing or over the telephone – you can contact us by telephone, letter, email or fax or complete a PRONI enquiry form online.

The Data Protection Act

The Data Protection Act (1998) Opens a new browser window. gives everyone access to their own personal information. You can contact PRONI seeking information about yourself or on behalf of a relative if you have their consent. Data Protection requests must be made in writing – you can contact us by letter, email or fax or complete a PRONI enquiry form online. Proof of identify may also be required before a search can be undertaken or information disclosed.
PRONI will consult with the Responsible Authority before the information can be released. The information will only be released to you or to the person acting on your behalf and will not be available for public consultation at PRONI.
